Peter Yu is a Certified Public Accountant with over 26 years of experience. He started his career as an auditor at Grant Thornton, LLP. In 2002, Peter founded CPA By Choice.
Peter Yu is a Certified Public Accountant with over 26 years of experience. He started his career as an auditor at Grant Thornton, LLP, where he developed a strong foundation in accounting, auditing, and financial reporting. In 2002, Peter founded CPA By Choice, a CFO and Controllership-focused consulting firm, with a mission to provide high-quality financial leadership to businesses of all sizes. Since then, he has gained extensive experience providing CFO, Controllership, and Treasury services to publicly traded and middle-market companies across various industries.

Peter’s key achievements include developing accounting and finance departments in fast-paced, acquisition-driven environments, ensuring both operational efficiency and strategic growth. He played a major management role in the creation of a Dental Service Organization (DSO) and assisted with over 160 acquisitions in a five-year period, providing hands-on guidance and strategic insight to drive business expansion and long-term success.
Jackie Lopez-Gopie

Jackie is a finance and operations executive with over 20 years of experience providing strategic leadership and financial expertise across industries including energy, insurance, healthcare, infrastructure, financial services, and cruise lines. She began her career at Deloitte in Miami, building a strong foundation in audit, financial reporting, and compliance, and has held senior roles supporting Fortune 500 clients through complex financial transactions, operational improvements, and enterprise-wide transformations.
Based in Miami with strong ties to New York and the Northeast, Jackie has led initiatives for PSEG-LI, MassMutual, UBS, Blue Cross Blue Shield, MasTec, World Fuel Services, and Prestige Cruise Holdings. Lean Six Sigma certified, she is skilled in SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, and Tableau. She is forward-looking, with a sharp eye for how AI and emerging technologies can drive efficiency and strategic advantage. Her analytical rigor is matched by a creative streak. She once attended pastry school, bringing precision and artistry to both baking and financial modeling.
Dan Sokoloff, CPA
Partner
Dan Sokoloff is President of Tax Advisors of South Florida and a licensed Florida CPA with more than 24 years of experience providing tax advisory and compliance services. He has worked extensively with multi-subsidiary consolidated groups, real estate clients, family-owned businesses, and high-net-worth individuals. Throughout his career, Dan has successfully advised medium and large closely held corporations, delivering tax compliance, research, and strategic planning for complex tax matters.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dan assisted clients in obtaining EIDL and PPP loans and guided them through evolving federal relief programs. He played a significant role in helping clients navigate the IRS Employee Retention Credit, completing well in excess of a hundred engagements. Leveraging deep real estate expertise, Dan advises clients on tax-efficient acquisition and disposition strategies, including Sec. 754 adjustments, cost segregation studies, passive activity considerations, and other issues.
Susana Albertson
Tax Partner
Susana is the Managing Partner of Tax Services at CPA By Choice.
Susana has extensive knowledge in all aspects of corporate tax, consulting businesses of various sizes and ownership structures with a heavy focus on real estate, manufacturing, aviation, dental practices, and consumer products industries. She has more than 17 years of domestic and global tax planning with multi-national businesses.
Susana’s experience includes corporate, partnership, mergers and acquisitions, international and multi-state taxation. She has deep involvement with a broad array of areas, including tax accounting methods, and accounting for income taxes. Additionally, she has led clients through complex IRS exams and implemented strategies focused on planning to defer and minimize tax.
Giselle Yannelli
VP of Business Development
Giselle leads the firm’s growth strategy, service expansion, and client relationship initiatives. With her background as a CPA, she provides clients with practical insight, helping them overcome roadblocks and implement effective financial solutions.
She brings more than a decade of leadership experience as VP at Staffing By Choice, where she specialized in identifying and placing top Finance and Accounting talent across South Florida. Her earlier career includes serving as Assistant Controller for Bunge Latin America, a multi-million-dollar commodities trading company, and working in public accounting with Marcum LLP.
Giselle is passionate about building long-term partnerships and is dedicated to driving the firm and its clients toward continued growth and success.

Nalini Jimenez
Director of Accounting
Nalini Jimenez has over 20 years of experience leading accounting and finance operations. Her experience spans small to medium-sized corporations in the US and Latin America across diverse industries, including manufacturing, distribution, and telecommunications, for both public and private entities. Nalini graduated from Universidad Santa Maria in Venezuela with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She joined CPA by Choice in 2024.
Melissa Triana
Accounting Manager
Melissa Triana has over 14 years of experience in private and public accounting firms. She graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance, with a concentration in accounting. Melissa joined the CPA By Choice team in 2020.
Aly Thompson
Accounting Manager
Aly Thompson has over 10 years of experience as a controller in the retail industry. She holds a Master in Accounting from Florida International University. Aly has served as a board of director for a multi-million corporation for 5 years. She joined CPA By Choice in 2021.
Alejandra Marin
Strategic Consultant
Alejandra Marin is a Certified Public Accountant with 15+ years of experience. She holds a Master in Business Administration from the University of Florida. Alejandra began her career as an auditor at Grant Thornton, LLP. She became a Partner at CPA By Choice Group in 2016.
